Eco-warrior, pioneer, and disrupter—in 1989, Susie developed the world’s first brand of organic and natural period products. Natracare exists to drive change for the good of people and the planet and for the last 30 years, she has been tirelessly striving for plastic free periods and an end to period poverty.
After seeing a television program that focused on the environmental damage caused by the dioxin residues that are created by the chlorine bleaching process used in paper pulp manufacturing, she began her research on the materials and technology required to produce a safer and effective range of products to rival those dominating the global market. Today, in addition to distribution across 82 countries, Natracare is the first period care brand to join 1% for the Planet.
A game-changing environmentalist, in 2023 Susie was awarded an MBE by King Charles III for her outstanding service to women’s health and the environment. She is also a recipient of the Women in Ethical Business Award, First Woman of Manufacturing, Oak Award the Organic Trade Board, West of England Carbon Commitment Award, Outstanding Contribution to Business in Bristol and Bath Award, a four-time Finalist of the Veuve Cliquot Women in Business Award and an Earth Protector Trustee.
When Susie isn’t innovating, you will find her busy in the garden on-site at the Natracare world headquarters in Bristol, a meditative hike or campaigning for women’s health.
